Eric Beresford began his career as a geneticist, and was ordained into the Church of England in 1983. He has been a key figure in the effort to engage the Anglican communion on the issue of ecology and environment. Before becoming president of Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, he was coordinator of the Anglican Communion Environmental Network, and also served as an ethicist for the Anglican Consultative Council.
